Music with Miss Audrey

Each week our music teacher Miss Audrey brings songs, musical games and rhythm instruments to our classrooms. Choosing songs that add fun, inspire curiosity and nurture the spirit, Miss Audrey and her guitar provide the children an immediate authentic connection to music making and help support the social skills and thematic discussions explored by the children in their classrooms.

Here are some of the songs Miss Audrey has been sharing with the children this year. Full lyrics for each song are listed below.

4. Baby Beluga - Raffi

Baby beluga in the deep blue sea, you swim so wild and you swim so free

Heaven above and the sea below, and a little white whale on the go

Baby beluga, baby beluga,

Is the water warm? Is your mama home with you so happy?

Way down yonder where the dolphins play, where you dive and splash all day

The waves roll in and the waves roll out, see the water squirting out of your spout

Baby beluga, baby beluga,

Sing your little song, sing for all your friends, we like to hear you

When it’s dark and you’re home and fed, you curl up snug in your water bed

The moon is shining and the stars are out, Goodnight little whale, goodnight!

Baby beluga, baby beluga

With tomorrow’s sun, another days begun, you’ll soon be waking!

5. Teddy Bear Named Freddy Bear - Ralph’s World

There was a teddy bear named Freddie Bear

who lived on top of a mountain made of chocolate cake!

He said, “I want my friends to come sing and dance with me!

We’ll put on our pajamas and have a hootenanny!”

Well my right hand is all the boys I know

And my left hand is all the girls I know

When I put them all together it makes a happy sound!

Clap clap clap - That’s the way the world goes round.

Well my right cheek is where my daddy kisses me

And my left cheek is where my mommy kisses me

When they kiss me all together it makes a happy sound!

Kiss kiss kiss - That’s the way the world goes round.

You bring a board and I’ll bring a saw, And we’ll build a house for the baby-o

We’ll jump inside when the cold wind blows and kiss our pretty little baby-o

 17. Autumn Leaves are Falling (adapted from traditional English lyrics by A. Engdahl)

Autumn leaves are falling, red and yellow and brown

Autumn leaves are falling, see them fluttering down

Tra-lala-la lala La La, Tra-lala-la lala La La,

Tra-lala-la lala La La, Tra-lala-la lala La La,

Autumn leaves are whirling, twirling around in the sky

When the wind blows its trumpet, don’t you see them spinning by?

Autumn leaves when they’re tired, they flutter down in a heap

At the foot of an old tree, soon they’re fast asleep (and they’re dreaming…)

Autumn leaves are dancing, dancing on their feet

Autumn leaves are dancing, dancing down the street!

18. Yellow Submarine

In the town where I was born lived a man who sailed to sea

And he told us of his life in the land of submarines

So we sailed up to the sun ‘til we found the sea of green

And we lived beneath the waves in our yellow submarine

We all live in a yellow submarine

A Yellow submarine, a yellow submarine

We all live in a yellow submarine

Yellow submarine, yellow submarine

And our friends are all on board Many more of them live next door

And the band begins to play … BAHH BAHH BAHH…

As we live a life of ease, everyone of us has all we need

Sky of blue (Sky of blue) and sea of green (Sea of green)

In our yellow (In our yellow) submarine (Submarine!)

19. Over the River and Through the Woods

Over the river and through the woods to aGrandmother’s house we go

The horse knows the way to carry the sleigh through the white and drifted snow.

Over the river and through the woods, oh how the wind does blow!

It stings the toes and bites the nose as over the ground we go!
